Manchester United are looking to advance with some of their transfer business - regardless of the result of the Europa League final

Manchester United are hoping to land two of their summer targets regardless of the result of Wednesday’s Europa League final - and one prime target has already travelled to Old Trafford for talks, it has been reported.

The 22-year-old joined Ipswich Town for £20m last summer with a £40m release clause baked into his contract. That clause has now dropped to £30m following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League. He is being eyed by other Premier League clubs, including the likes of Chelsea and Everton.

Liam Delap travels to Old Trafford for in-person talks

Delap has scored 12 goals for Ipswich in what is his debut Premier League season. That is around a third of the Tractor Boys’ goals in the top flight this term. That tally would make him United’s top goals-scorer in the Premier League this campaign with Bruno Fernandes scoring the most goals in the league with eight while their top-scoring striker is Rasmus Hojlund with four.

The Red Devils have struggled for goals in the Premier League this campaign with just 42 goals in 37 games. Only four teams have scored fewer, with Everton scoring 41 and the relegated trio of Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton netting 35 or fewer.

Liam Delap widely praised for performances this season - he would add goal threat for Man Utd

Former Premier League goalkeeper and ex-England international Paul Robinson admitted earlier in the season that Ipswich would do well to keep a hold of Delap. He said via BBC Sport just a few days after Delap scored and assisted in a 2-0 win over Chelsea: "He has been linked with some very big clubs, hasn't he? Ipswich will do very well to hold on to him. If they don't survive in the Premier League, you can't see his future being there.

"He is a quality player. He led the line on his own against Chelsea. At times, Chelsea were playing a back five with four players in front, and they defended resolutely, but he was always an outlet. He is a pest. He is a nuisance. He is always there on the shoulders of the centre-backs. He is making runs in the channels. He is always available.

"When it looks like he isn't going to win the ball, he puts his body in between the player and the ball, somehow managing to win a free-kick or something for his team. He is a top, top player."
