Ryan Babel reacts to ‘wild’ news coming out of Bayern about Liverpool target Florian Wirtz

Bayern Munich and Liverpool are keen to sign Florian Wirtz this summer, and Ryan Babel has made an interesting comment that should excite the Reds fans.

Wirtz is likely to be one of the most in-demand midfielders in the upcoming summer transfer window, and the transfer race has taken an interesting direction already after Manchester City decided to withdraw, per BBC Sport, their initial interest in the German international.

That leaves Bayern and Liverpool as two major powerhouses vying for the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder’s signature.

Babel has shared his excitement on X after the latest comments made by Bayern chief, Uli Hoeneß, who admitted that Wirtz was in Liverpool recently.

Bayern are thought to be leading the race to sign Wirtz this summer, but Hoeneß quashed reports that we have reached an agreement with the 22-year-old already. In doing so, he revealed where Wirtz visited last week.

Hoeneß said to Bild: “What can I tell you now? You’ve been writing nonsense for weeks about him going to Manchester City, even though he was at Liverpool. We’ll provide you with facts at some point, not more speculation!”

Babel feels that the transfer window is “already wild”, even though it hasn’t officially started, and he expects Liverpool to do serious business this summer.

Bayern Munich are still likely to sign Florian Wirtz

Liverpool have reportedly submitted a “concrete” proposal to sign Wirtz, but we should be able to pull off the deal if the deciding factor comes down to the player’s decision.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol reported that Wirtz is expected to continue at Leverkusen, where he has a contract until 2027, or he will move to Bayern. Put simply, he doesn’t want to leave Germany any time soon.

The one major factor that could prove to be a big obstacle for either of the clubs is Wirtz’s transfer value. Leverkusen value Wirtz at €150m (£126m), and doubts remain whether we would be willing to pay that amount.

Having said that, if Wirtz remains hellbent on staying in Germany, then it makes a lot of sense for us to invest heavily in him. He is a rare talent and would be a great addition to the side, especially if Leroy Sane decides to move on.
