Last month, L’Equipe reported Nottingham Forest had initiated contact to sign VfL Wolfsburg star Mohamed Amoura. They also reported the Premier League club would need €35m to sign him in the summer window.
Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung backs up Nottingham Forest interest when covering Bayer Leverkusen’s plan to sign the forward.
They state several clubs are hot for the 25-year-old and Bayer Leverkusen, Nottingham Forest and Eintracht Frankfurt are mentioned.
Amoura impressed during his debut season in Germany, managing 10 goals and 12 assists from 34 games. He’s attracting interest from several clubs and Bayer Leverkusen have made him their top target.
WAZ/AZ, who say this is their own information, state Bayer Leverkusen can improve their finances through selling Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong and can afford to buy the Algeria international.
Wolfsburg are aware their player has aroused interest in Germany and abroad, where the Reds are an interested party. Their managing director, Peter Christiansen, had earlier ruled out selling the attacker.
The report states he made this comment when the club weren’t sure about qualifying for Europe. They missed out in the end after finishing 11th in the table. Therefore, Wolfsburg have ‘few arguments’ to convince Amoura to continue with them.
Wolfsburg’s transfer philosophy is to buy players cheaply and then sell them for profit. WAZ/AZ state Amoura’s valuation has doubled to €35m and a quick decision could be made on his future.
Bayer Leverkusen have to be wary of Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and Eintracht Frankfurt as these two clubs are ‘vying’ for the Algerian.
