It appears that Marcus Rashford has reconsidered his original stance on leaving Manchester United. The forward was said to be open to reduced salary demands to join Barcelona. He still has a contract at Old Trafford until 2028, but it is looking ever less likely he will stay with the Red Devils.

This season he has been with Aston Villa on-loan and has found the net four times. And no doubt he assisted plenty of goals as well. This was all while showing signs of his best form. The Midlands club have the option to make the move permanent, although the two clubs have yet to start talking. Marcus seems to show he’s got his eye on another destination.

According to reports, Barcelona remain his preferred destination. He’s also willing to take a lower wage to come to the Camp Nou. He reportedly won’t offer that same discount to other clubs, suggesting Unai Emery’s side may struggle to keep hold of him.

Villa Blow as Rashford Focuses on Champions League Ambitions

Aston Villa’s chances of signing Rashford on a permanent deal have been dented. Especially, with the player determined to play in the Champions League. Barca, who have already booked their place in next season’s competition, offer that opportunity. And the forward sees the Catalan giants as the perfect place to regain his best form.

Although linked with Barca in January, a move didn’t happen as the Spanish side chose to prioritise internal contract renewals. Meanwhile, Villa have confirmed that the player won’t feature again this season due to a hamstring injury. He’s currently working on recovery, but won’t be fit in time to play. Though, he was eligible for the recent match against Spurs.

Villa is set to face Utd in the final game of the season. So, Rashford wouldn’t be allowed to play against his parent club anyway. As it stands, all signs point to the striker saying goodbye to both Old Trafford and Villa Park this summer.
