Jamie Carragher warns Man Utd transfer target not to move to Old Trafford on live TV

Jamie Carragher has warned a Manchester United transfer target against joining the club amid rumours that he is one of the top names on the Red Devils' shortlist for the summer. United appear to be wasting no time in getting manager Ruben Amorim players in ahead of next season, with a deal for Wolves attacker Matheus Cunha believed to be imminent.

Amorim has struggled domestically this season, but a win in Wednesday night's Europa League final could be the launching pad to truly get his Old Trafford tenure off the ground, with the added finances and incentive of Champions League football next term crucial in securing some of his targets. However, Carragher believes one star must avoid making the switch for the sake of his career.

Carragher Tells Liam Delap to Avoid United Move

The Ipswich striker is said to have held face-to-face talks with the club

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football coverage, Carragher stated his belief that Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap should avoid joining United, suggesting that the pressure of the move may be too great for him at this stage of his career. The 22-year-old has been in impressive form for the relegated Tractor Boys this season, scoring 12 Premier League goals – more than any United player.

Delap is believed to have held face-to-face talks with the club to gain an idea of what a move may look like. However, Carragher has urged him against making the move to the Theatre of Dreams.

"I don't think Delap should go to Man United. I just think what happened to Hojlund...you're going from a team who have been relegated to one of the biggest clubs in the world. The eyes and ears. I just think that's such a big step. Man United's a monster.

"I do [think he's an upgrade on Hojlund] but I just think that next step of a club like Everton where you're going to play every week, you're going to be the main man, one of the best players in the team every week. He was the best player at Ipswich, everyone went through him. Go to another club where you're that for two years and then go to a Man United."

Carragher on Cunha to United

The news broke about an imminent deal prior to Brighton vs Liverpool

Ahead of Monday Night Football, Carragher was also asked what he though about Cunha's impending move to Old Trafford. The Brazilian is set to join the club once a payment plan for his release clause is agreed upon, and the ex-Liverpool defender admitted he though the former Ateltico Madrid man was a strong addition.

"I think it's a great signing. I think he's a brilliant player," Carragher stated. "I love watching him play. We are going to pick our Team of the Season tonight, but he was in my team at the halfway point of the season. He had a great start to the season.

"I watched him at Man City a few weeks ago and he looked really sharp, quick. We know how the manager at Manchester United wants to play. He likes two sort of No 10s in his team and I think he'd fit perfectly."
