Rodri hasn’t played for Manchester City since picking up a cruciate knee injury in September, which ruled him out for the vast majority of the season and presented problems for Pep Guardiola.
In the Spanish midfielder’s absence, Manchester City haven’t had the season they will have desired. Indeed, it’s been a long way from what will have been expected. A fight to retain the title quickly fell away and now it’s a case of trying to secure Champions League football, with FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace ruining their chances of a trophy.
Guardiola has hinted recently that Rodri is getting close to being available and may return for Manchester City soon. Spanish newspaper AS now report the Ballon d’Or winner is set to be included in the club’s squad to face Bournemouth this evening.
He’s said to have been training for a few weeks and whilst it’s not thought that he’ll start the match, coming on a substitute is seen as a possible step forward. That could depend on how Manchester City do in the first hour or so against Bournemouth.
