Aston Villa appear angry over transfer development – Send ‘very clear message’ to Spanish newspaper

On Friday, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez appeared emotional and waved goodbye to the home supporters at Villa Park. This led to claims he could be on the move in the summer window, and that was a fair stance to take give the stopper very much looked like he was saying his farewells.

At the weekend, we covered claims from Argentina that the 32-year-old will accept one of the offers he has from top European clubs.

On Monday, DSports reported Manchester United and Barcelona are looking to snatch him from Aston Villa.

Marca have a report on the Argentina international and Unai Emery’s side appear to be angry over the latest transfer developments around him. The Spanish newspaper make it clear this is their own information and that they contacted Aston Villa for an update.

The Villans have told Marca that they haven’t been contacted, opened negotiations or received offers regarding the player.

They point out the World Cup winner has a contract lasting until 2029, indicating it won’t be easy to snatch him. Emery’s side have used the Spanish newspaper to ‘send a very clear message’ about their firm stance on Martínez.

Given part of that message isn’t completely ruling out a sale, it would appear they want to get the idea out there that it won’t be a cheap transfer to complete.
