Leeds United are eyeing a move to sign Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas ahead of a busy summer transfer window at Elland Road.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Daniel Farke wants to add Premier League experience to his squad.

It is believed that Liverpool’s pursuit of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez will open the door to the Greece international’s exit, with Leeds among a number of interested clubs.

Brown told Football Insider on 19 May that Liverpool could meet Kerkez’s £45million asking price in the coming days following the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong.

As a result, Tsimikas is believed to be open to a move which would see him play regular first-team football in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Junior Firpo‘s contract at Elland Road is set to expire next month and the club have turned their attentions towards landing a replacement.

Leeds plot Kostas Tsimikas swoop after Junior Firpo decision

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider on 25 April that Firpo will leave Leeds this summer, with replacements already being considered.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained Tsimikas is one of the names on their list and the deal would make sense for all parties.

“*Tsimikas, from Liverpool, is one they’ve been looking at,*” he told Football Insider.

“He’s done well at Liverpool and he’s held in very high regard there.

“But if they’re going to sign a new left-back as it looks like they will, he’s going to be pushed even further down the pecking order.

“Leeds can offer him the chance to play regular football in the Premier League.

“So on that basis, I expect it’s a move he would be interested in making.

“From Leeds point of view, he’s a player with plenty of Premier League and winning experience.

“Bringing in players like that never hurts when you’re coming up from the Championship.

*“It seems that’s what the manager wants to do, flesh out his squad a bit with experienced players who can help some of the younger ones they’ve got.*“

Callum Wilson update emerges after Newcastle exit

The signing of a new left-back, while an important target, is not expected to be the priority at Elland Road as they continue to eye a number of strikers.

Brown told Football Insider on 19 May that Leeds are considering signing Newcastle’s Callum Wilson when his contract at St James’ Park expires next month.

His Premier League experience and goalscoring prowess have placed him among the leading candidates for the position ahead of their return to the top tier.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Leeds want to sign two new strikers, as Leicester’s Jamie Vardy is also on their radar.
