Jamie Carragher says whether this Premier League season has been a ‘fluke’ for Nottingham Forest

Jamie Carragher has a sketchy relationship with Nottingham Forest supporters, with his role as a pundit on Sky Sports often seeing him deliver opinions on the Reds.

In fairness to Carragher, he has said plenty of positive things about Forest this season, with the team sitting a point behind the top five going into the final day of the Premier League campaign.

Carragher does sometimes stick the boot in, though, most notably when he sided with Gary Neville after Forest tweeted following some scandalous VAR decisions in last season’s 2-0 defeat at Everton.

Still, as a pundit, it’s the nature of the beast that you offer an opinion, and it won’t always be the case that everyone agrees with it.

Back in the summer, Carragher did make a comical opinion on Forest that saw him come under fire and now he’s been taken to task on this week’s Monday Night Football.

Jamie Carragher says whether Forest season has been a ‘fluke’ or not

Back in August, Carragher predicted Forest to be relegated from the Premier League this season in a remarkable prediction that completely went against the grain.

He wasn’t alone, with other pundits making bizarre predictions suggesting a season of struggle for Forest.

On this week’s Monday Night Football, Carragher was taken to task by Monday Night Football host Dave Jones over his prediction, and he actually had some kind words on the Reds.

He said: “Do you know what, when you look at the players they’ve got, they’ve got good players, I don’t think it’s a fluke, look, it might be tough to do what they’ve done this season again next season, but they have got some really good players in the team.”

Nuno Espirito Santo deserves every accolade under the sun

Far too many pundits judged Espirito Santo on his tenure at Tottenham when he was first installed as the new Forest manager, and he’s proved everyone wrong.

His style of play isn’t always easy on the eye, but from a Forest perspective, he’s been absolutely tailor-made for the club following the departure of Steve Cooper.

Espirito Santo will surely be given some Manager of the Year accolades as the various pundits and podcasts do their awards for the campaign and they will be richly deserved.

The challenge for the club next season is to continue building and ensure that top-half finishes become the norm at the City Ground.
