Jurgen Klopp has been linked with a move to Friedkin-owned Roma
Jurgen Klopp’s agent has emphatically shut down the suggestion the former Liverpool boss is set to become the new manager of AS Roma. A report from Italy emerged on Monday night claiming that The Friedkin Group, who also own Everton, had agreed a deal with Klopp to become the new head coach of the Serie A side.
According to La Stampa, Klopp is set to make a shock return to the dugout at Roma after being identified as a top target by the Friedkin ownership group 'some time ago'. However, responding to those claims on Tuesday, Marc Kosicke, the German's agent, told Winwinallsports: “The news about Klopp becoming Roma’s next head coach is not true.”
The 57-year-old quit Liverpool at the end of last season after a successful nine-year reign in which the club won the Champions League and the Premier League to take a break from the dugout.

However, he would make his return to football in January when he started as Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, but speaking at the time, Klopp made clear that he will not become manager at one of the Red Bull clubs.
"I will not be the coach of a Red Bull team," the Kop icon said. "That is a clear commitment.
"As much as you can give a guarantee, I will not be a coach at all. I am probably the only person in this room who will be asked, 'Where are you in five years?' I don't have a clue.
"But I will not be a replacement of one of the Red Bull coaches. I hope we can create a structure where these questions will not come up at all."
But speaking in July of last year, the German failed to rule out making a return to the dugout one day.
He said: "As of today, that's it for me as a coach. I didn't quit on a whim, but it was a general decision. I've also coached the best clubs in the world.
"Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let's see what else there is for me."
The Serie A outfit are on the hunt for a new manager as ex-Chelsea and Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri heads into retirement after answering an SOS earlier in the season.
Roma have endured a turbulent season after making the controversial decision to sack legend Daniele de Rossi and then parting ways with Ivan Juric before turning to Ranieri to save their season.
Roma vice-president Ryan Friedkin is in attendance for Sunday’s 3-1 win over AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico, and was asked by reporters his thoughts on who the next coach will be.
However, he simply replied: “Ranieri is a great man.”
