'I just think': Gary Neville settles the score on who is better out of Bruno Guimaraes and…

Newcastle United have two world class midfielders in Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

Alongside Joelinton, Newcastle United have the Premier League’s best midfield in the eyes of many.

Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are elite players, while their chemistry together continues to blossom.

They have played key roles in what has been an incredibly successful season for the Magpies. Newcastle won the Carabao Cup, while they could also qualify for the Champions League.

According to Jamie Carragher, Sandro Tonali changing position was the catalyst for Newcastle’s success.

However, it is actually Bruno who has won a place in Gary Neville’s Premier League team of the season.

Gary Neville explains picking Bruno Guimaraes over Sandro Tonali

On Sky Sports’ final edition of the season of Monday Night Football, Neville and Carragher named their Premier League teams of the season.

Alexander Isak was named in both pundits’ teams.

Neville also included Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes in his team, naming him in his midfield three alongside Youri Tielemans and Ryan Gravenberch.

“Guimaraes is a great player for Newcastle,” he said.

“He is such an influence on them.”

Neville was then asked why he singled out Bruno from the Newcastle United midfield, with the former Manchester United defender admitting that he could have gone for Tonali.

“It could be Tonali, I like both of them,” he said.

“But I just think Guimaraes has got that touch more than Tonali. I like both of them. They are a brilliant pair in there.”

Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are great friends

As Neville says, Bruno and Tonali play brilliantly together.

That is probably because they are so close off the pitch.

During an interview in April, Tonali said he loves Bruno, hailing the Brazilian for being such a lovely guy off the pitch as well as a superstar on it.

“I think Bruno is a crazy, crazy guy, but I love him,” he said.

“I love him because he’s a lovely, lovely player on and off the pitch. Bruno helped me every day. Not just the last year but also every day this season because he’s a massive player for us and we need him every game.”

The feeling is mutual, with Bruno saying Tonali was an excellent signing for Newcastle United in a recent interview.

“He has all the attributes that the gaffer likes,” the 27-year-old said.

“I think he was a very good signing for us. It’s nice to play with him, I enjoy it a lot.”

Bruno enjoys playing with Tonali, while Newcastle United fans love watching them play together. They are pivotal players under Eddie Howe, and will hope to show what they are capable of together in next season’s Champions League.

They will get that opportunity if Newcastle beat Everton on Sunday and confirm their place in the Premier League’s top five.
