**Newcastle United remain at the front of the pack in the chase for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo with the summer transfer window closing in.**
Bryan Mbeumo has long been touted as Newcastle's 'priority target' and thanks to the Cameroonian's inspired form this season, that link has only got stronger.
Of course, his form also means that the Magpies are far from alone in their desire to sign the 25-year-old.
Mbeumo can't be oblivious to the Newcastle links, of that we're certain, but it still remains to be seen if he sees Newcastle as a good fit.

Bryan Mbeumo will go where he is wanted
Bryan Mbeumo will go to the club who wants him the most
-------------------------------------------------------
Through our very biased eyes, we can't see why he wouldn't. He'd be coming to a club on the up, working for one of the best coaches in the world right now, who has an excellent track record of improving players, and hopefully we'll be able to offer him Champions League football, but if not, almost certainly Europa League.
However, sources close to the deal have told [The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-told-bryan-mbeumo-31676183) that Mbeumo is likely to sign for the club that wants him the most. Which should put Newcastle pretty high on that list given their long-standing interest.
The report also goes on to say that £54 million should be enough to get the deal done, which isn't as much of a price hike as we were all expecting. At the start of the season and in January, it was suggested £50 million would do it, but his form has been so good that everybody expected Brentford to slap another £10 million on his valuation.
Newcastle need to act fast to get the deal for Mbeumo done early
----------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle will probably start ramping up their 'wooing' now that the season is coming to a close. We just hope we act faster this year than in previous years, and we don't lose out on top signings by trying to penny pinch.
At this point, they must be very aware of what it will take to get the deal done, so there's really no excuse for not making it happen at the start of the window.
The quicker Newcastle acts, the less likely we are to get gazumped by someone like Chelsea, who throw money around like confetti.
