'How…' – Man Utd legend's ruthless 12-word Red Devils verdict ahead of Europa League final speaks volumes, he didn't…

Rio Ferdinand dropped his most brutal dig on Manchester United to date ahead of Ruben Amorim’s men playing in the 2025 Europa League final against Tottenham.

Manchester United overcame Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the Europa League and the Red Devils sealed their place in the final on Wednesday evening.

Ruben Amorim’s men were in complete control of the semi-finals after United secured a 3-0 win over Athletic Club at the San Mames Stadium in Spain.

Following United’s first-leg win over Athletic Club in Bilbao earlier this month, the Red Devils hosted the La Liga club for the return leg at Old Trafford.

Amorim’s side went 1-0 down against the Spanish side in the first half before United mounted a second-half comeback against Athletic Club and sealed a 4-1 win.

United must lift the Europa League trophy in the final in Spain if the Red Devils want to return to Europe in the 2025-26 season with Champions League football.

The Europa League would also offer Amorim the chance to secure his first piece of major silverware as United manager after arriving at the Red Devils in 2024.

Rio Ferdinand sends a clear-cut assessment of Man Utd in the 2024-25 Premier League season ahead of the 2025 Europa League final

Manchester United are unable to secure European football for next season through the Premier League after their disastrous 2024-25 league campaign.

The Red Devils’ form has fallen off a cliff in the Premier League in the current campaign and United are currently 16th in the league table under Ruben Amorim.

United have suffered 18 Premier League defeats this season alone and the Red Devils only have one league match remaining in their woeful campaign.

Ruben Amorim has been unable to turn around the Red Devils’ struggles in the Premier League after replacing Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford dugout.

The Red Devils have not won a single Premier League match in their last five league fixtures ahead of United’s 2025 Europa League final showdown with Tottenham.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Rio Ferdinand was asked for his end-of-season Premier League awards and he pulled no punches towards United in one category.

When asked to name his biggest ‘surprise’ in the current campaign, the 46-year-old United legend said: “How bad Man United have been in the Premier League this season.”

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim makes his feelings clear ahead of the Europa League final clash with Tottenham in Spain

Amorim made it clear that the Red Devils are preparing for a “massive” and “really important” match and want to deliver for United fans in the Europa League final.

“We are fine,” he told MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“Preparing for the game. I think you can feel it in Carrington, we’re very excited with the final. It’s really important, massive for us, and we want to give that to our fans.

“I feel it’s a mixed feeling [for me]. I’m really excited but, at the same time, I know my responsibility as a Manchester United coach.

“I have always that feeling of frustration for the season, so I want really bad to help the team to win the final.

“We’ve got to give something to the club, to the fans, to the staff, to everybody.”

United and Tottenham’s Europa League final clash at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao is slated for an 8pm kick-off in the UK.
