Michael Owen names three Nottingham Forest players in his Team of the Year plus one brutal snub

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a brilliant campaign in the Premier League during 2024/25 and with one game to go, there is still everything to play for.

The Reds could earn a place in next season’s Champions League should they defeat Chelsea at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

Forest know that European football is definitely confirmed for next season, with all three competitions still in play for the Reds ahead of the final game.

It’s the time of year when pundits begin picking their awards for the campaign and Gary Neville hailed Nikola Milenkovic on Monday Night Football earlier this week.

Michael Owen makes Nottingham Forest omission from Team of the Season

The pundit has given his picks for his Team of the Year to Optus Sport – but from a Forest perspective, there is a glaring omission.

Three players have made the grade, with Matz Sels, Ola Aina and Chris Wood all making the team, with Milenkovic and Murillo earning a place on the bench.

However, Owen has caused quite a stir with his decision to omit Morgan Gibbs-White from his Team of the Year, choosing a 4-3-3 formation and overlooking the Forest man.

Gibbs-White scored for the second week running on Sunday at West Ham but Owen hasn’t been able to find a place for him in his team.

Manchester City want Morgan Gibbs-White

The Citizens will have to dig deep, but Fabrizio Romano claims that City still want Gibbs-White this summer.

Regardless of what Forest achieve this season, it feels like the club might face an uphill challenge to keep hold of their star man beyond the summer.

At 25-years-old, Gibbs-White is proving one of the top players in the Premier League lately and he’s been consistently good throughout the campaign.

Forest will drive a hard bargain with Evangelos Marinakis steering the negotiations and hopefully Gibbs-White will remain at the club.
