Liverpool are believed to hold some form of interest in Eintracht Frankfurt Hugo Ekitike ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who has scored 22 goals across all competitions this season, has emerged as a key target for Arne Slot’s side as they seek to bolster their attacking options.

Ekitike has been linked to the club by Lewis Steele of the Daily Mail.

However, Frankfurt’s €100 million (£85.7 million) valuation will complicate things.

His ability to link play and create space for teammates, coupled with a willingness to press defensively, theoretically suits Slot’s preference for a dynamic, system-oriented forward.

His underlying statistics showcase why the Reds and other clubs are keen on the Frenchman:

And should Liverpool be keen on the striker, it seems his club have already given him the blessing to depart.

Eintracht Frankfurt Sporting CEO Markus Krösche has suggested that Ekitike can leave the club if he feels that has outgrown the German club:

“He’s one of the most interesting strikers on the European market,” Krösche told Sport1.

“Hugo has to decide that [ed. His future]. I’m glad we have him. If he decides otherwise, that’s our credo. If a player develops faster than us, we let him go.”

Having signed the French forward for only €20 million, Frankfurt is poised to make a substantial profit should their asking price be met.
