Manchester United have approached Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez in a bid to sign him during the summer transfer window, according to Diario AS journalist Eduardo Burgos.
The agent of the 2022 World Cup winner revealed last July that the Argentine was close to joining the Red Devils in 2023 before their former manager Erik ten Hag opted for Andre Onana.
The Cameroon international has not covered himself in glory and Man United have identified Martinez as a potential replacement.

However, the Old Trafford club will face competition from the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, while Villa could convince the 32-year-old to remain with them if they qualify for the Champions League.

The former Arsenal goalie is an upgrade on the error-prone Onana, and the Red Devils could do with such a huge personality in goal.
Martinez has won the Copa America twice after picking up the Golden Glove and making the Team of the Tournament at the 2021 and 2024 editions, and he has also been named the Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper and Yashin Trophy winner twice.
The Man United target has the needed Premier League quality and experience boss Ruben Amorim wants in a goalkeeper, but convincing him to move after a woeful domestic campaign could be tricky.
Parting with Onana this summer is a must if the Red Devils want to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League going forward, and while he will be a short-term solution, the Villa star would be perfect for them.
