Leicester City have decided to sack manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, sources have told Football Insider.
The Foxes hierarchy have been weighing up the 48-year-old’s future at the King Power Stadium as they assess the market for alternatives.
Leicester’s board will now formalise Van Nistelrooy’s departure after just under six months in charge.
The Midlands club want a manager proven in the Championship as they plot a path back into the Premier League.

Sean Dyche has emerged as a target while ex-Southampton boss Russell Martin has also been mentioned – and both men have significant experience in the second tier.
Van Nistelrooy succeeded Steve Cooper at Leicester after impressing as interim boss at Man United.

He signed a contract running until June 2027 upon his arrival but that deal will be cut short.

Van Nistelrooy’s Leicester record (2024 – present, all competitions)
The ex-striker has led Leicester to just five wins and three draws across 26 matches in all competitions, with seven points picked up after relegation was officially confirmed.
Van Nistelrooy’s side went eight Premier League games without scoring between 1 February and 7 April to virtually consign Leicester to relegation.
The Foxes were hit with a new blow on Tuesday (20 May) after being hit with a breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2023-24 season.

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (20 May) that Leicester are eyeing a move to bring former star Jeffrey Schlupp back to the club.
Schlupp, who spent the second half of this season on loan at Celtic, is out of contract at Crystal Palace next month.
Leicester are planning to rebuild their squad following relegation from the Premier League and see the 32-year-old’s experience and versatility as a key addition to their squad.
