"Especially not to Bayern": 21 y/o super talent urged to join Liverpool over Bayern

Florian Wirtz has been urged not to join Bayern Munich this summer as the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder considers his future with the 21-year-old very much at a crossroads.

On Monday, Manchester City withdrew from the race to sign Wirtz, with Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly not willing to pay the numbers involved with signing the Leverkusen star.

Sami Mokbel claims a deal to sign Wirtz could cost in the region of €300m (£252m) but curiously, Liverpool journalists have yet to report that the Reds have withdrawn as well.

In fact, the Times‘ ever-reliable Paul Joyce says that although Bayern Munich “have been considered as favourites”, Liverpool are “trying to persuade him to opt for a new challenge in the Premier League.”

With Wirtz yet to make a decision, Liverpool supporters are desperate for the mercurial playmaker to pick Anfield over the Allianz… and so too is his teammate Robert Andrich.

Robert Andrich urges Florian Wirtz to reject all Bayern Munich interest

Speaking in an interview with Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger, Robert Andrich has sent a message to Florian Wirtz that likely mimics the sentiment of all fans at Bayer Leverkusen.

“Yes, of course there are a few comments along those lines,” Andrich said when asked if he told Wirtz to pick any club other than Bayern Munich.

“I hope he doesn’t leave, especially not to Bayern, because that would make them significantly stronger.

“But fundamentally, Flo is already very clear in his perception and his mind, and he also has a very good environment.

“So no matter what he ends up doing, he’ll have thought it through thoroughly. It would be best, of course, if he stayed with us.”
