Fabrizio Romano: 'World-class' star wants to join Liverpool after Frimpong, talks have started

Bournemouth starlet Milos Kerkez would be ‘open and happy’ to join Liverpool this summer, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Hungary international is now the subject of talks between the two Premier League clubs, who are believed to be working towards a deal to make him one of Liverpool’s first summer signings.

Romano claims Bournemouth are likely to maintain a tough stance in negotiations and are ‘not desperate for money’, having sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid for £50m.

It has been reported that a deal for Kerkez could cost in the region of £45m, as Bournemouth are looking to triple the £15.5m they paid AZ for the 21-year-old in 2023.

Milos Kerkez in action for Bournemouth

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Kerkez remains an important target for Liverpool, who are now working on a summer deal to bring him to Anfield:

“Kerkez would be open and happy to join Liverpool, now it’s on the clubs.

“Bournemouth just sold Dean Huijsen for an important transfer fee, £50m, so they are not desperate for money. And this is why, for Milos Kerkez, they maintain their point in terms of valuation.

“So there would be a conversation club-to-club. They are in contact, Liverpool and Bournemouth, for Milos Kerkez. So there is a negotiation ongoing. Let's see if they can reach an agreement.

“For sure, Milos Kerkez is an important target for Liverpool. They are working on that. The negotiations are ongoing. Now, we have to see if they will be able to also close this signing.”

Kerkez, praised as ‘world-class’, has blossomed into one of the best left-backs in the Premier League during his two seasons at Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola.

The Hungarian has scored two goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances across all competitions this term.

Liverpool could end up signing two new full-backs this summer, as they are advancing in talks to land Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutch right wing-back is expected to arrive at Anfield as a replacement for Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold, with Liverpool ready to pay his £30m release clause.
