Patrice Evra sends emotional plea to Manchester United players

Manchester United have begun preparations for their massive Europa League final showdown with Spurs in Bilbao, a game that could define their season under Ruben Amorim.

With Erik ten Hag now firmly in the past, Amorim is looking to put a stamp on his new era by guiding United to their first European trophy in seven years.

Matthijs de Ligt fitness remains a concern, but Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee are expected to travel with the squad.

Supporters have travelled in their thousands, hoping to witness a new chapter in United’s storied European history.

But one voice from the past has stepped forward, despite facing personal heartbreak, to inspire the team ahead of Wednesday’s final.

Former United star Patrice Evra has issued an emotional message to his beloved Red Devils, urging them to “bleed for this shirt” and “fight” in honour of the badge.

Patrice Evra, 44, is known for his unwavering support for the club, frequently offering passionate commentary on United’s performances since leaving in 2014.

However, the Frenchman confirmed he will not be attending the final after suffering a family tragedy — the loss of his sister, aged just 56, following a long battle with cancer.

In a heartfelt video shared ahead of the clash on Instagram, Evra began by sending his trademark “positive energy” before turning serious.

“She fought for 20 years,” he said.

“That’s what I want from you tomorrow — just fight.

“No excuse. Bleed for this shirt, for the fans, the staff, and the people of Manchester.”

Evra went on to describe winning the Europa League as a “duty” for the players, calling on them to honour not only the club’s legacy but the commitment of fans travelling across Europe to watch them.

While he will miss the match due to mourning, Evra revealed that he will soon return to sport — but in the world of combat, hinting at his upcoming appearance in a combat sports debut.

The response to his post has been overwhelming, with supporters sending condolences but also drawing motivation from his words.

Even in heartbreak, Evra has shown what it means to be United.
