10 players missing from Europa League final

Manchester United’s injury list is once again under the spotlight as the club prepare for one last shot at salvaging their season.

After a dire Premier League run that’s seen six defeats in eight games, the Europa League final in Bilbao offers a chance for redemption.

Victory would not only hand United their first European silverware since 2017, but also secure a coveted place in next season’s Champions League.

But Ruben Amorim’s preparations have been anything but smooth, with selection headaches and uncertainty clouding the build-up.

Even Tottenham, United’s opponents, are battling a long injury list of their own — setting the stage for a bruised but high-stakes encounter on Wednesday night.

And now the full extent of the chaos has been laid bare.

As many as 10 players could miss the Europa League final, with both sides scrambling to piece together a fit squad, as per the Mirror.

Tottenham are without James Maddison, who scored in the semi-final and also against United earlier this season.

Dejan Kulusevski, Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner are all ruled out, while Dane Scarlett’s late-season rise will be halted by injury.

Lucas Bergvall was initially expected to miss the clash after picking up an ankle injury in training ahead of the semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

However, the teenager has now reportedly resumed training, with images on social media fuelling speculation among supporters that he could make the trip to Spain.

However, his return for the final is not completely confirmed as of yet.

Pape Matar Sarr is touch-and-go after limping off against Aston Villa on Friday, although Ange Postecoglou is hopeful it’s nothing serious.

Manchester United’s injury woes are equally daunting.

Lisandro Martinez remains unavailable, while doubts hang over Matthijs de Ligt, who is battling a knee issue.

Jonny Evans was left out of the squad against Chelsea, and Amorim admitted uncertainty over both De Ligt and teenage sensation Leny Yoro.

“I don’t know if they’re going to be available, we’ll try to push, it’s a final, all the players want to play really bad,” the United boss told reporters.

Leny Yoro has now returned to first team training and may feature in the final.

Joshua Zirkzee and Diogo Dalot are also likely to feature as they have joined first team training as well.

The pressure is immense, and with Spurs already beating United three times this season, Amorim’s men will have to dig deep.

The Portuguese coach has acknowledged that his team are “not ready” to compete consistently, but victory in Bilbao would change the narrative entirely.

United have one chance left — and they’ll need every ounce of fight to take it.
