'Outstanding...' - Jamie Carragher lauds Liverpool after what they've done this season

Liverpool have been one of the most dominant teams in the Premier League this term and are more than deserving champions.

While their performances may have slowed down towards the end of the season, there’s no denying that Arne Slot has more than filled the void left by Jurgen Klopp’s Anfield exit.

Many expected the Merseyside outfit to still be in a rebuilding phase this term, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Mohamed Salah has been the standout player for Liverpool this term, with the Egyptian King often single-handedly bringing in points for the Reds.

Which is why it’s not all that much of a surprise to see Jamie Carragher talking about yet another attacking record that Liverpool have broken this term.

Jamie Carragher lauds Liverpool after breaking another Premier League goal record

Liverpool’s Premier League defeat to Brighton on Monday was, admittedly, not their finest hour.

Despite the defeat, however, Slot’s side managed to score another two goals, something they have now achieved in 31 top-flight games this term, a new Premier League record.

This led to Carragher saying on Sky Sports following the defeat that Liverpool “don’t just have goal scorers, they create a lot of chances, that’s why Liverpool have won the league.”

“Defensively, Arsenal are the better team, but in terms of goals and chances they created, they still should’ve scored three tonight at least.

“I think that’s now 31 games out of 37 they’ve scored two or more in a Premier League game, which is a record in the Premier League, which is pretty outstanding. That’s why [they’re champions].”

Arne Slot has a lot to live up to at Liverpool next season

Slot’s first season at Liverpool has undoubtedly been a massive success.

At the start of the 2024-25 campaign, if you’d have said to any Liverpool fan that they could win the Premier League but fall short in all of the other competitions, they’d have snapped your hands off.

It’s only because of how dominant they’ve been this term that some fans believe the Reds deserved more.

Whichever side of the argument you stand on, there’s no denying that players such as Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai have been key to their title charge this term.

Carabao Cup 5 2 1

Champions League 9 3 4

Of course, Liverpool are still in need of a number nine who can score regular goals, but at the moment, with transfer links for players such as Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez gaining traction, things are certainly headed in the right direction.

That is, even if Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota are relied upon to lead Liverpool’s attacking line next season.
