West Ham are coming towards the end of a miserable season after struggling in the bottom half of the table throughout the campaign.

The Hammers find themselves in 15th place heading into the final game of the season, where they will face already-relegated Ipswich Town on Sunday (25 May).

Football Insider revealed on 28 April West Ham are preparing for another big overhaul ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

The east London club are looking to free up space in their squad for a wave of new signings following their disappointing campaign.

That process is already underway, with West Ham set to save more than £14million after announcing Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the London Stadium when their contracts expire on 30 June.

Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the Hammers will be looking to rebuild their squad to avoid finding themselves in a “disastrous” situation similar to Leicester City.

The Foxes have faced profit and sustainability (PSR) issues since initially being relegated to the Championship in 2023 before being promoted back to the Premier League last season.

They are now set for an instant return to the second tier following their latest relegation.

West Ham set for big savings after confirmed news

Borson revealed West Ham will make significant savings following the departures of their out-of-contract stars.

He told Football Insider: “There will be decent-sized wage savings.

“They are obviously going to have to rebuild the squad because look where they are in the league, and that’ll apply to all of those teams at the bottom end because they can’t risk relegation.

“Remember, all of these clubs, we saw it with Leicester because Leicester had got themselves into this position as well, they’re all set up for the Premier League such that if you go down, it’s a disastrous situation.

“You just can’t manage everything that needs changing.

“You can’t manage a wage bill down in half overnight without selling off all your best players, so it’s your wage bill not just on the field but also off the field, and your cost base off the field is all set up to be at a certain level.

“So, if you get relegated, you almost certainly breach financial fair play, and there’s a knock-on effect of that.

“You have got to avoid relegation, so they’ve got to rebuild the squad.”

West Ham plan to accept Mohammed Kudus offer

Former London Stadium scout Mick Brown told Football Insider West Ham plan to accept an offer for Mohammed Kudus ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Ghana international, who is under contract until 2028, is understood to have a release clause in his contract that will be active for the first 10 days of July.

Under the terms of the clause, the 24-year-old winger could join European sides for £80million, Premier League clubs for £85million and Saudi teams for £120million.

Kudus has struggled for form this season, having registered four goals and four assists in 34 appearances.
