Discussions being held internally over shock departure at Nottingham Forest

Nuno Espirito Santo could leave Nottingham Forest at the end of the season, with the matter now being discussed internally.

That’s [according to Foot Mercato](https://t.co/dkBr0Bvsp4) and [journalist Santi Aouna](https://x.com/Santi_J_FM/status/1924828046495731985) who report that ‘internal tensions’ between Espirito Santo and Evangelos Marinakis could lead to his departure from Nottingham Forest this summer.

They report that, according to their sources, there is a feeling that the time has come to change manager and Nuno Espirito Santo could leave.

That is seen as a ‘rather strange development’ given Nottingham Forest’s season so far and the fact they remain firmly in the race for Champions League football heading into the final day of the season.

Tension has risen in recent weeks, though, as a series of poor results have seen Nottingham Forest slide down the table to seventh after occupying the top four for much of this campaign.

Marinakis was also seen storming onto the pitch to speak with Espirito Santo following the 2-2 draw with Leicester City earlier this month. Both parties insisted that there was no issue, though, and that Marinakis’ anger was over injured striker Taiwo Awoniyi not being substituted.

Foot Mercato, though, report that there are tensions between the pair behind the scenes and discussions are being held internally for the Nottingham Forest manager to depart.

Now we’d question this given it would be a strange decision for Forest to make, even if they don’t make the Champions League this year. Some would even label it self sabotage.

Marinakis is a volatile character, though, to say the least and it’s hard to rule out anything because of that fact. There’s a lot of words in the report but not really much detail.
