“It’s Time For Me To Say Goodbye”–West Ham And PL Rivals On Alert As England International Confirms He’s Available

West Ham target Angel Gomes has announced that he will leave Lille when his contract expires at the end of next month.

The England international made the move to France in the summer of 2020, but writing in an Instagram post, he said he will be switching teams this summer.

“After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye. This club has been more than just a team – it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.”

“Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my teammates and the fans for sticking with me throughout. I’m proud of what we achieved together and thankful for every moment.”

“To the fans – thank you for your amazing support and for believing in me. I will forever be grateful. I always gave everything I had for the badge and for all of you.”

Several Premier League clubs are interested in Gomes

The 24-year-old’s availability on a free transfer is set alert West Ham and a number of other teams, including his former club Manchester United and Tottenham

Gomes is also expected to have offers from other countries, and there is a chance he could stay in France, with Marseille having been linked.

West Ham need to strengthen their midfield

Head coach Graham Potter is reportedly hoping to change the makeup of his squad so there are more technicians in the middle of the park.

Gomes has the right profile. He is an excellent passer and very comfortable with the ball at his feet. There are question marks about his output (he has scored just 2 goals and contributed 1 assist this campaign) but the midfielder‘s ability would enable the Hammers to have better control of possession.

The club have held talks with the player since the New Year, although things have gone relatively quiet in recent weeks. That could mean one of two things: he has already signed a pre-contract agreement or discussions stalled on personal terms.
