It has been confirmed that Abdoulaye Doucoure will be leaving Everton upon the expiry of his contract.
Over the last few months it’s been unclear whether Doucoure would be staying or leaving, but the player himself has announced he will be departing Everton.
After emotions are still running high following Goodison Park’s finale, Evertonians can’t catch a break with the midfielder posting a heartfelt goodbye on his Instagram.
The 32-year-old himself is clearly devastated as Doucoure was in tears in what was his last home game for the club.
Well now a new revelation has come to the surface, as David Moyes and the hierarchy tried to do something before Doucoure confirmed his exit.

What Everton did before Abdoulaye Doucoure’s exit
It’s been an ongoing saga for the last few weeks now, but with it officially confirmed, it’s a shame to see a hero depart after five seasons with the club.
His famous goal on the final day at Bournemouth will stay in Everton fans’ hearts forever, with it being the goal that kept the Toffees in the top flight.

Moyes gave nothing away on Doucoure’s situation but it’s now become clear the Scotsman knew exactly where the 32-year-old was heading at the end of the season.
The main reason why there was such dispute over the midfielder staying was his excessive wage of £130,000.
To fans’ astonishment, Doucoure wanted a pay rise rather than a decrease, and the latest update exemplifies that.
The Athletic are reporting that Doucoure was ‘offered a new contract by Everton last week’, but a deal could not be struck. This was likely due to a difference in money wanted for a new deal.
It’s also said that he’s attracted interest from clubs in England and, notably, the Middle East, where he has family, but his next destination is yet to be disclosed.

Doucoure knew where his Everton future lay before Goodison Park finale
Of course, it’s now clear that the Malian knew it would be his final home game for the club, and like Goodison, he will be cutting his ties with Everton.
It was obvious from the game that Doucoure would likely leave, but now it’s confirmed, it won’t make his departure easier for fans.
Reports came out previously that Everton would offer a contract to Doucoure, but nothing was concrete with the midfielder fighting his corner of having a pay rise.
The reality is that the club couldn’t match his wishes, and despite Doucoure wanting to stay, he’s opted for a new challenge.
