Manchester United defender ruled out of Europa League final as 26-man squad confirmed

Man Utd will be without two senior players when they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez are both currently sidelined due to injury, while teenage striker Chido Obi is ineligible to play in the Europa League this season. It means there is space in the squad for Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee after they all returned to first-team training this week.

United held their last training session before the final on Tuesday morning, where De Ligt was spotted doing individual fitness work with a first-team coach. Jonny Evans has also travelled to Bilbao after he missed the defeat to Chelsea last Friday night.

Manchester United squad for Europa League final

Ruben Amorim has the luxury of an almost entirely fit Manchester United squad for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night. Leny Yoro, Diogo Dalot and Joshua Zirkzee have all returned from injury in time to travel to Bilbao, though it is unclear whether any of them are fit enough to start the match.

The return of the senior stars means there are no places for any of United’s academy youngsters in the matchday squad for the final. Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass are both considered first-team players after their recent involvement under Amorim, while Chido Obi is not eligible to feature in European competition.
