Spurs' Victor Wembanyama Celebrates French Phenom and Another Number One Pick

Victor Wembanyama, despite playing only a season and a half worth of NBA games, is one of the biggest stars in the sporting world. He is the face of the San Antonio Spurs and will soon take over as the face of the NBA, and appears to be staying in Texas during the NBA offseason.

Fans are hoping he will spend the summer working out with De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, but he certainly deserves some breaks, and he was recently spotted taking in a WNBA game between the Dallas Wings and the Seattle Storm.

The Wings boast Paige Bueckers, the first overall pick who is expected, much like Wembanyama, to be a transformative prospect. The Storm, meanwhile, had the second pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft and selected French national Dominique Malonga, who has already been compared to Wembanyama.

Seattle won 79-71, with Malonga scoring only two points in a single minute of play. Bueckers, despite the loss, finished with 19 points and eight assists in her second-ever game.

Gabby Williams, who plays for both the Storm and the French National Team, finished with an efficient 17 points, and all the French players greeted Wembanyama after the game.

Wembanyama is helping the NBA and international basketball grow, and while Williams and Malonga might be overshadowed by Caitlin Clark and Bueckers, the womens' French team is also on the rise.

Wembanyama might soon lobby for San Antonio to get a WNBA team again, and if the Spurs wind up in a new arena, the Silver Stars could return,, sharing facilities with Wembanyama and the Spurs.
