Cousins argued that the Dallas Mavericks should select Ace Bailey with the No. 1 overall pick, passing on consensus top prospect Cooper Flagg. He even drew a lofty comparison between Bailey and a Hall of Famer.
"To me, Ace Bailey is the number one pick," Cousins said. "He’s the closest thing we’ve seen to Tracy McGrady."
Despite his strong opinion on Bailey’s potential, Cousins acknowledged that the Mavericks may not even keep the top pick, aligning his view with recent statements made by Dallas GM Nico Harrison.
"I don’t see Nico Harrison keeping that pick," he added. "With everything he has said on the record about the team’s championship window, it just logically doesn’t make sense."
However, recent reports suggest otherwise. The Mavericks are reportedly viewing the No. 1 pick as untouchable and are expected to select Cooper Flagg - a generational prospect widely regarded as one of the most polished and complete young players to enter the draft in years.
