The former Manchester United academy graduate ended his 17-year association with the club last summer

Marseille president Pablo Longoria has confirmed the French club will pay an additional fee to Manchester United for Mason Greenwood.
The 23-year-old, who joined the Ligue 1 club last summer, has enjoyed a strong first season in France. He has scored 22 goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances across all competition. Before the March international break, Roberto De Zerbi benched him for the first time all season, limiting him to ineffective substitute appearances against RC Lens and Paris Saint-Germain.
What followed were reports of tension between player and manager, along with questions about his inconsistent approach to training. Since then, speculation has surrounded his long-term future.
If he does depart, United are expected to receive 50 percent of any profit from the sale. While a major windfall from a Premier League move appears unlikely, clubs in Saudi Arabia are reportedly interested in the forward.
Marseille president, Longoria has now provided an update on Greenwood’s future and revealed a second clause in United's deal.
"He's a key player in the squad," he said (via GOAL). "We'd like to provide continuity, he's happy here.
"We're happy with his performance this season. He scored 21 goals (in Ligue 1), plus one in the Cup. He was one of the most important players of the season, and we're very proud of his first season.
"There were ups and downs, naturally. But it was his first full season with a preseason. Everything happened very quickly for him compared to past situations. Regarding the contract situation, we bought 50% of the player's value; it was the only way to complete the transaction because they had offers higher than ours.
"Qualifying for the Champions League requires us to buy around 10% more."
Marseille, who finished as runners-up of Ligue 1, have secured qualification for the Champions League next season.
