Bayern Munich sign star linked to Manchester United

Manchester United fans are well aware of the club’s need to bring in reinforcements this summer.

Especially after a season where numerous players are expected to leave.

Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen are three stars set to depart once the season finishes.

Wolves are believed to be the leaders in chase for Lindelof’s signature.

The hierarchy will be looking to add experience and nous, in a team that will be losing an abundance of leadership.

However, United have now been dealt a major blow.

Bayern Munich have won the race for a player long linked to United and Barcelona.

Jonathan Tah to sign for Bayern Munich

The German giants have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah, with personal terms already settled, according to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato.

The 29-year-old will sign either a four-year contract or a three-year deal with an option for a fourth.

He will be earning around €12 million per season.

Barcelona had secured a verbal agreement with Tar as far back as December.

However, ongoing financial issues have left their side of the deal blocked – opening the door for Bayern to act swiftly and decisively.

United had also been pushing for the centre-back, having held talks with Tah’s representatives earlier this month.

The club viewed him as a key part of their planned rebuild under Ruben Amorim and saw his experience and recent Bundesliga-winning pedigree as the perfect fit for a revamped backline.

However, Bayern’s accelerated approach and financial muscle appear to have won out, with the move now in its final stages ahead of the Club World Cup.

It’s a major setback for United, who must now turn their attention to other defensive targets.
