Pep Guardiola has left Savinho out of the Manchester City squad to face Bournemouth days after the winger started against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian was in the XI for the FA Cup Final and was praised by his manager after the game for his performance, only to find himself out of the matchday squad days later.

No injury has been reported for Savinho, with the youngster instead the latest to suffer as a result of Guardiola having nearly all of his players back. Rico Lewis and James McAtee are left out of the squad for the second successive game, and Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Claudio Echeverri all join them.

Coming back to the squad from injury are Nathan Ake, Oscar Bobb and Rodri. City will be particularly delighted to have Rodri back given he has been injured since September and many didn't expect him to play again this season.

Guardiola spoke after the FA Cup Final about his decision to leave McAtee and Lewis out of the squad for that game despite their integral roles in City reaching the Wembley showpiece. "It's so difficult for all the managers," he said.

"We brought some players in winter and now all the players are recovered and we have 25 players and the last four or five [games] all the time [the same] three or four players were out. All the time.

"I wanted to change a little bit. I don't have anything against Rico or Macca. Nathan came back in the first week of training and I tried to be fair with the guys."

The manager spoke again about the selection difficulties on Monday when he was asked about Jack Grealish being on the bench while Echeverri was given a debut at Wembley.

"There is not one player in my locker room, and I think all the locker rooms in and around the world, that they are happy or they are not happy, or have bad faces, because players don't play. I never, never see that," he said.

"Of course they are unsatisfied, but not just Jack. Macca and Rico were and Kova, who was a little bit injured and I didn't want to expose that. And all the players are unhappy, and they let you know that they aren't happy.

"We're in situations when the team is winning, winning, they have to figure out that everything happened, but they aren't happy. They are here to play, and they don't play, they are unsatisfied. That is a normal position in all the clubs."
