Timeline set for next wave of Manchester United redundancies

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first year at Manchester United has been anything but smooth.

Since acquiring a 27.7% stake in the club, the INEOS owner has pushed through sweeping cost-cutting measures aimed at restoring financial discipline at Old Trafford.

From announcing mass redundancies to hiking ticket prices and slashing contributions to affiliated groups, Ratcliffe’s vision for a sustainable United has come with significant sacrifices – and plenty of backlash.

He’s publicly claimed that without these drastic actions, the club “would have been bust by Christmas.”

But the turbulence isn’t limited to Manchester.

INEOS’ other ventures have also faced pressure – from attempts to offload OGC Nice amid France’s broadcast crisis, to a recently settled dispute with New Zealand Rugby after backing out of a performance partnership.

To add to it all, Ratcliffe’s personal fortune has taken a major hit.

Manchester United analysts to learn their fate until after post-season tour

Now, as per Daily Mail’s report, the next wave of United’s internal upheaval is set – with football staff affected by the redundancies told they will not learn their fate until after the post-season tour of Hong Kong and Malaysia.

That group reportedly includes the club’s team of analysts, as well as employees from other key departments.

Many of them are already in Bilbao for the Europa League final and will head straight to Asia still unsure whether they’ll have a job by the end of the summer.

The timing has only deepened staff frustrations.

Last week, it emerged that manager Ruben Amorim stepped in to fund 30 staff members and their families to attend the final after the club failed to provide complimentary tickets.

A sharp contrast to Spurs, who offered one to each of their 700 full-time employees.

United staff remaining in Manchester have been invited to a screening at Diecast with two free drinks on offer.

Meanwhile, first-team players are also said to be frustrated as per Daily Mail’s report, having only been offered two tickets each and seats on a charter flight to Santander.

Accommodation has proven just as tricky, with United securing three hotels in Bilbao for players, sponsors and guests.

The team will be housed in a UEFA-designated base, while others are being spread across the Melia Hotel and a separate site outside the city.
