Ange Postecoglu blasted a journalist in a furious rant during a Tottenham press conference, claiming he's 'not a clown'.

The Australian - who is hoping to cap Spurs' miserable season with a stunning Europa League final victory tomorrow - was quick to call out an earlier report, which described Ange as "teetering between hero and clown" depending on how the game goes against Manchester United in Bilbao.

The 59-year-old was speaking at the San Mames Stadium when he was questioned by the reporter who'd written the article. He asked whether or not he was conscious that he was "walking a fine line between two different types of infamy and history?"

A fired-up Ange didn't bother to answer the question properly and instead stunned the room with his response. "Irrespective of tomorrow, I'm not a clown and never will be," he said.

He went on: "You really disappointed me that you used such terminology to describe a person that for 26 years, without any favours from anyone, has worked his way to a position where he is leading out a club in a European final.

"For you to suggest that somehow us not being successful means that I'm a clown, I'm not sure how to answer that question." The former Celtic manager - where he won the treble - was later asked about his future at the Lilywhites.

Again, Ange offered an unexpected reply, this time talking about his health and family instead of Spurs. He said: "My future is assured. I have a great family and a great life. Provided my health remains and my family is there my future is assured.

"I still think there is a lot of work to be done [at Tottenham]. There has been some growth I would like to see through. Whether that happens I don't know but there is still some growth there."

He also told the press that he has a laid-back approach to whatever happens in Bilbao. "Don't stress. I have been in this position before where a big game has been the last one I have managed," Ange commented.

However, he indicted a prevalent pattern that appears to see him leave a club after winning a trophy. "I qualified for a World Cup with Australia and left, won at Celtic and left, won at Brisbane and left. It does happen," he added.

The manager heaped pressure on himself last year when he declared that he always wins a trophy in his second season in charge of a club, which is now for his tenure at Spurs. Ange's future lays in serious doubt for many after Spurs' lowly league position and the so-far 21 league defeats this season.
