Harvey Elliott has been an outcast at Liverpool this season with Arne Slot failing to put as much faith in him as Jurgen Klopp did.
This has meant that Elliott has been on the sidelines at Liverpool for the vast majority of the season with a point to prove.
And, when Slot’s outlook on the youngster is compared to Klopp’s, it likely came as a bit of a shock to his system.
However, due to the form shown by Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield this term, it’s hard to see how Elliott would have been able to fit into the German’s plans, even if he were still the manager.

And, after admitting that “whatever happens, happens” in a post-match interview with Sky Sports, it seems that the midfielder could be on his way out of Anfield sooner than many may have thought.
Curtis Jones could be in line for a more regular first-team role with Harvey Elliott exit
Curtis Jones is another one of Klopp’s golden boys who has found himself out of favour this season.
The duo play in a similar role to one another, and as mentioned, with the recent form of Slot’s preferred trio, it’s hard for the Dutchman to justify dropping any of them.
Speaking to Sky Sports after their 3-2 defeat against Brighton on Monday evening, Elliott admitted the 2024-25 campaign had been “hard” for him as a result.

“Some lads like myself haven’t played as much through the season, and it’s about going out and enjoying it. We want to win and enjoy it,” he said.
“We need to take the positives and take it into the final game next week. I think I’ve done it this season.
“It’s been hard with how much I’ve played. I’ve tried as hard as I could, and whatever happens, happens. It’s about what’s best for my career.
“It’s about reflecting and seeing what I can do. I’m here at the moment and I’m focusing on the final game.”

Although Elliott isn’t directly confirming he’s on the way out with this admission, it certainly feels like that’s the way things are headed.
Curtis Jones could thrive in Arne Slot’s system
There’s no denying that Jones has caused problems when Slot has chosen to bring him on in the latter stages of some games that have been played this term.
The midfielder is a workhorse who never seems to stop sprinting while also seemingly having a keen eye for goal.
Competition Games Goals Assists
Premier League 32 3 4
Carabao Cup 5 0 1
Champions League 8 8 0
FA Cup 0 0 0
The 2024-25 season of Curtis Jones in numbers.
Mac Allister is likely the most comparable to Jones in Slot’s preferred starting XI but with the amount of games the Argentina international has played this term, it’s been a bit of a surprise to not see Jones used all that often.
Jones’ work rate coupled with his ability to pick out a pass would be second-to-none in Slot’s squad, and if Elliott does end up leaving in the summer, there would be one less person in the way for him to prove his worth.
At the end of the day, Elliott’s Anfield exit could be the best outcome for all the parties involved.
