Liverpool hold a firm interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and the striker would reportedly be willing to make the move to Anfield.
While a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong and interest in Florian Wirtz have caught the attention of supporters, there is still the major need for a new striker to consider.
Darwin Nunez is leaving the club this summer with Napoli reportedly waiting on the 25-year-old’s decision while Diogo Jota is also linked with an exit.
Meanwhile, Luis Diaz is also linked with a move to Barcelona but Liverpool will hold contract talks with him first. The Colombian is not a natural striker and yet Arne Slot has preferred him there over Nunez and Jota.
Slot needs a clinical striker to make sure that Liverpool don’t over-rely on goals from Mohamed Salah again next term. The Egyptian is the main reason Liverpool lifted the Premier League but he has struggled for energy and inspiration in recent weeks.
Report says Liverpool are serious about signing €100 million RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko
Sesko is an incredible player. He’s 21, stands at 6 foot 4 and scores some incredible goals.
According to an exclusive from DAVEOCKOP, Liverpool hold “serious interest” in signing Sesko this summer with the striker also keen on making the move to Merseyside.
RB Leipzig reportedly value him at €100million (£84.2m) although the report states Liverpool may be able to negotiate that fee lower.
Liverpool have not made a bid yet or any formal approach to Leipzig at all but there have been discussions with the striker about a possible move to Anfield and it would appear the Reds were given encouragement that he’d be open to the switch.
Is Sesko the best striker Liverpool can get for circa €100m?
Don’t get me wrong, Sesko is a wonderful player but having watched Darwin Nunez for three years, I’m somewhat insecure about Liverpool’s plans to replace the Uruguayan.
Alexander Isak would be amazing but even then the Swede has some question marks surrounding his injury record and ability to stay fit the way Mo Salah does.
Sesko, however, leaves a lot to be desired in 1v1s. He seems to score the difficult goals and makes a fuss of the easy ones. At 21, it’s not dire straits by any means but Liverpool need to absolutely certain that he’s no Nunez 2.0 before commiting another massive £80m+ fee on a striker.
