Now he’ll be officially recognized as an honorary Buckeye,” wrote the Columbus Post Dispatch. “When Ohio State’s Board of Trustees meets May 21, it will vote to award an honorary degree to the Akron native and all-time NBA great. James will receive a Doctor of Public Service degree for not just his basketball career, but his off-the-court community impact.”
LeBron never went to college, but attendance isn't necessary for honorary doctorates. The practice is done by schools that wish to recognize an individual's achievements despite the lack of completion of any formal academic studies.
