The midfielder and his family were given a guard of honour onto the pitch by all the players and staff, before it was confirmed that the Club commissioned a special statue to be made outside the stadium.
Several former City team-mates’ video messages were then played on the big screen inside the stadium, whilst the Belgian’s own children also had emotional messages played on the screen for their father, before De Bruyne took the mic himself, expressing his pride and joy regarding his time at the Club.
After the squad and staff completed their lap of appreciation around the Etihad pitch, City Studios caught up with De Bruyne and when quizzed about his emotions, the midfielder said: “I would say a bit all over the place. It was amazing. I think I’ve seen a full stadium, everybody staying here to say goodbye.
“So I think that says it all about the appreciation that the fans have for me. I don’t really know how to explain the emotions but it was absolutely wonderful.

“They [my kids] did really well, I’m actually quite surprised because I don’t know what they all think in their head, but to have a full stadium around you with all the lights and everything, they handled it really well.
“It’s not easy for them to even do a video like that. I’m proud of them because it’s not easy for them with everything they’ve been through.
“But like I said, they’ve handled it really well and I’m a proud dad at that time.”
KDB also touched on the manner of City’s victory and how he felt after missing a golden chance to score on his farewell Etihad appearance, before also speaking about Sunday’s final Premier League match of the season against Fulham.
