Liverpool have been linked with a move for one of Ligue 1’s rising stars.
The Reds are preparing for what could be one of the most significant transfer windows in recent memory, with the club looking to strengthen multiple positions while facing potential departures of key stars.
The defence, midfield, and attack are expected to be filled, and several names have already been linked with a possible move to Anfield.
As it stands, Jeremie Frimpong is set to be the first new name to walk through the doors at the AXA Training Centre this summer. The Dutchman has passed the first part of his medical at the club and his transfer is set to be announced in the coming days.
Another player that could join him is Milos Kerkez. Liverpool are said to have opened talks with the player and his club over a potential move.
Elsewhere, there are constant updates on Liverpool’s interest in German international Florian Wirtz. The Reds and Bayern Munich are thought to be the two major clubs interested in Wirtz after Manchester City recently pulled out of the race.
Benjamin Sesko is another one to watch. The RB Leipzig striker is expected to leave the German club this summer and Liverpool is a club he will love to join as we exclusively revealed on Tuesday.
Reports from France have now named another player Liverpool could potentially bring in this summer.
According to French publication L’Equipe, Liverpool have initiated contact with French midfielder Maghnes Akliouche.
The 23-year-old Monaco star is one of Ligue 1’s most valued assets. But it is increasingly looking likely he will depart this season.
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the clubs able to buy the France youth international, valued at €60m by Monaco.
However, according to L’Équipe, there is a gap in valuation, with PSG only willing to spend €50m on the player.
And whilst the player can see himself playing at the Parc des Princes, the deal is currently at a standstill.
Other clubs, including Liverpool, have registered interest, even though the Reds’ interest is said to be tentative.
“So far, no club has made an official offer to AS Monaco for Akliouche,” L’Equipe said.
“Manchester City had initiated talks, but appears to be moving on other avenues. Liverpool also initiated initial contact before asking for patience. Currently, only Nottingham Forest has shown a willingness to make concrete progress, while Tottenham have only just entered into discussions.”
Akliouche, who plays as a midfielder for Monaco, has scored seven goals and registered 12 assists in 43 appearances for the Principality Club this season.
Meanwhile, Monaco sporting director, Thiago Scuro, recently spoke about the possibility of the player leaving this summer.
Scuro hinted this at during a press conference on Monday and advised Akliouche to join a club where he can continue to develop and boost his chances of earning an international call-up.
“Whether he stays or goes, both are good options for him,” Scuro said.
“Few clubs can afford a player of his calibre. He needs to be smart in his choice. If he leaves, it must be for a club that suits him, with a playing style that fits, a place where he feels confident to become an international – he deserves it.”
