Keith Smith outlines Keon Ellis, Jake LaRavia offseason decisions

The Sacramento Kings have some complicated contract situations ahead of them this offseason.

Keith Smith, contributor to Spotrac, joined The Allen Stiles Show on Tuesday to outline new Kings GM Scott Perry’s options with Keon Ellis (primarily) and Jake LaRavia.

With Ellis, Sacarmento could elect to pick up his $2.3 million team option for 2024-25. They could attempt to extend him after, but a falire to do so would allow him to reach unrestricted free agency.

If Perry declined the option and make him a restricted free agent this offseason, it would allow other teams to set the market but simultanesouly allow the Kings more control.

And there’s a whole other side to the LaRavia discussions. Keith Smith laid it all out in the conversation.

When a new front office takes over, there usually is a decent bit of turnover on the roster that takes place as they begin to shape their vision for the organization. With Scott Perry replacing Monte McNair as general manager of the Sacramento Kings this offseason, don’t be surprised to see a busy offseason.

And those rumors are already starting to flow out from the NBA Draft Lottery, an event where plenty of leaguewide executives find themselves in the same city. According to Jake Fischer, “there (has) been no shortage of rumbles, since the hiring of Scott Perry as general manager, that Sacramento is expected to gauge the trade market for veteran swingman DeMar DeRozan.”
