Spurs Europa League prize money so far and Champions League windfall vs Man Utd

Europa League final day is finally here! It is a huge night for Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham team and potentially a momentous one in the club's history.

Spurs and Manchester United will face off in Bilbao for the Europa League trophy, with the game getting underway at 8pm at San Mames Stadium. Not only do the winners get their hands on UEFA's second club competition, but whoever triumphs also secures a place in next season's edition of the Champions League.

There is also plenty of prize money up for grabs, most notably £10.95million for the winners. The runner-up will bank a total of £5.9million from the final.

Tottenham have fared very well when it comes to Europa League prize money so far this campaign. Daniel Levy and Co. have already secured a £15.499million windfall for progressing all the way to the final and that could potentially come to £26.5million if they are to win in Bilbao.

The £15.499million Spurs have so far brought in is a result of qualifying for the league phase, their results in the league phase, their position in the 36-team league table and advancing through each knockout stage to the final. A full breakdown of Tottenham's prize money so far can be seen below:

As mentioned above, that figure can rise to £26.5million if Tottenham are to beat Manchester United in Wednesday's final. If that is indeed the case, there would also be further money to come next season as a result of Champions League qualification.

Even just reaching the league phase of UEFA's premier competition is extremely lucrative as this term it was worth £15.587million, which is in fact more money than Tottenham have earnt so far in this season's Europa League. Champions League wins are then worth £1.75million, draws £585,000 and winning the competition is an eye-watering £20.92million.

Winning the Europa League is so important for Tottenham as a club given a lack of silverware and also desire to take the next step and compete for honours on a regular basis. Winning the Europa League is also very important financially for the football club.
