Amid growing speculation over his future, Nigeria international Moses Simon has addressed transfer rumours linking him with a summer move away from French side Nantes, with Everton reportedly leading the chase for his signature.
The player, whose full name is Moses Daddy-Ajala Simon, has been with the French club for five seasons after initially joining on loan in 2019, scoring 37 goals in 201 appearances.
Reports in France and England have surfaced linking Simon, who turns 30 on July 12, to Everton, as well as several clubs in Spain and Germany. Despite Nantes’ turbulent season in Ligue 1, Simon has remained one of their most consistent performers, contributing goals and assists, scoring eight times and assisting 10 goals in all competitions.

His current contract runs until June 2026, but he is likely to attract further interest this summer. Speaking exclusively to SportsBoom, Simon acknowledged the swirling speculation and outlined his ambitions to play at the highest level.
He said: “Yes, I’ve heard about the interest, and I know my agent is in contact with some clubs. Right now, I’m still a Nantes player.
“I’ve always given my best for this club, and I respect my contract. But of course, every player wants to play at the highest level.
On the potential of a move to England, the Nigerian star was open yet measured. He said: “The Premier League is one of the best in the world.
“If the right offer comes, and it’s good for me and my family, then why not? But I’m not desperate.
“I have peace here in France. It has to be the right project.”
SportsBoom say that Everton are believed to be targeting players with proven experience and versatility.
They report that the Blues have reportedly identified Simon as a cost-effective solution on the flanks, especially with potential summer departures looming in their squad. His ability to play on either wing, track back defensively, and unlock tight games makes him a valuable asset and sources close to the deal suggest a fee in the region of €8–10 million could tempt Nantes, who may be open to a sale to fund their rebuild.
Internally, Nantes are yet to decide definitively on Simon’s future. Club officials are understood to be considering a contract extension offer, while also fielding enquiries from abroad.
With two years left on his current deal, this summer presents a prime opportunity to cash in; especially if the player expresses a desire to move. Simon added: “Whatever happens, I will always be grateful to Nantes.
“They gave me a home and believed in me. But in football, change can be part of growth.”
