Manchester City have sold several young players in recent years to help boost their profits and transfer budget.
Academy stars Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Tommy Doyle and Liam Delap were all sold last summer, with the Premier League side raking in more than £40million from those deals.
The Mail reported on 14 May Maximo Perrone is set to complete a £25million move to Como after spending this season on loan with the Seria A club, where he’s started in 19 of his 25 appearances.
The 22-year-old midfielder joined Man City from Velez Sarsfield in 2023 for £9million, but he has only made two senior appearances at the Etihad.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the club will make a book profit of around £20million following Perrone’s sale.
That will provide Pep Guardiola with an extra injection of cash as he looks to improve his squad heading into the summer transfer window.

Man City get PSR boost after new reveal
Borson insisted Man City are in a strong profit and sustainability (PSR) position heading into the upcoming transfer window.
He told Football Insider: “City have got big headroom on PSR.
“We know that, and they’ve already sold Maximo Perrone to Como.
“That’s about £20million book profit.
“I think he was bought for £9million in 2023, so he’s amortised down and there’s a big profit there.
“They have got a succession of other young players that they’re going to sell.
“They will make quite big profits on player sales as well this summer.
“So, they’ve got plenty of capacity.”
