Manchester United are heading into the most important summer since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s view of Ruben Amorim is crucial after his damning thoughts about Erik ten Hag.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s fit with Erik ten Hag was always uneasy, as he was the manager he inherited and effectively forced to keep after the FA Cup final win.
In contrast, Ruben Amorim is Ineos’ own man, carefully appointed to lead the club’s revolution, although the results have not been ideal, to put it kindly.
Ahead of United’s biggest club game in recent history, Ratcliffe’s view of Amorim has emerged, and so has his damning thoughts about his predecessor.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe on Ruben Amorim
Ratcliffe has thrown unconditional support behind Ruben Amorim so far, and deservedly so, since he came in the middle of the season.
He has just had a single transfer window and one player arriving, all the while implementing a change in playing style and resetting the club culture.
Not just Ratcliffe, Amorim has also received words of support from Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox, although those mean nothing if results continue to collapse.
In that context, Amorim will earn a longer rope because of his public-speaking skills and charisma, a necessary trait to lead one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Reportedly, that’s what Ratcliffe feels as well, something that reflects extremely badly on Ten Hag.
As per The Times, Ratcliffe views Amorim as “passionate”, something which he likes and is in stark contrast to his view of Ten Hag who was termed ‘robotic’.
Public communication was never Ten Hag’s strongest suit and he was quickly losing fan support due to the same so this revelation isn’t particularly surprising.
However, the revelation getting leaked in this manner doesn’t paint the Dutchman in the best light.
Ruben Amorim has the personality to lead Man Utd
While managing big clubs, the ability to manage egos and lead by charisma is almost as important as having tactical nous and flexibility.
That is where Ten Hag failed, as he looked in command as long as the results were in his favour but things quickly spiralled out of control once that wasn’t the case.
In contrast, Amorim’s most honest self comes after the losses, where the Man Utd fans can relate to him instead of being gaslit that everything is fine, which was the case under Ten Hag.
It remains to be seen if he can live up to his lofty promises for next season because even charisma and honesty can only take a manager so far.
But those traits will definitely earn him a longer rope which would be well deserved.
