Tottenham have been backed to claim Europa League glory when they play Manchester United - edging out a five-goal affair in Spain. The two Premier League sides will battle it out to claim the silverware on Wednesday night.

Both teams have excelled in Europe despite domestic form being hard to come by. They're separated by just one place and one point in the Premier League, but sit 16th and 17th in what is a poor reflection for both clubs.

Tottenham beat Bodo/Glimt in the last four, winning comfortably, whilst United made light work of tournament favourites Athletic Bilbao as they hammered them 7-1 on aggregate.

Since those ties all eyes have been on Bilbao with huge amounts at stake for both clubs. Firstly, a trophy. But beyond that either Tottenham or the Manchester outfit know they'll be in the Champions League next season, banking huge sums along the way in revenue.

A supercomputer has predicted which side will lift the trophy at the San Mames with the winner generated by simulating the entire competition 1,000 times. Results were converted into percentages and has ended with AceOdds backing Tottenham to win 3-2.

That would be in keeping with the trend this season. Tottenham have beaten United on three occasions, scoring eight times in the process. They secured a 3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season, knocked them out of the Carabao Cup and then won the most recent encounter in north London.

The match winner that day, James Maddison, is among a lengthy injury list for Ange Postecoglou as he seeks to end the club's well documented trophy drought. Tottenham's last piece of silverware came back in 2008 with many big name managers trying and failing to end the pain.

United meanwhile are eyeing a third trophy in as many seasons and Ruben Amorim may need the boost ahead of the summer transfer window with some outside the club doubting whether he's the man to turn things around given the decline since his appointment.

Amorim has cast doubt over whether United are ready to compete domestically and in the Champions League - but that will be his challenge if they do claim Europa League success.

Despite the supercomputer siding with Tottenham the bookies make the side from Manchester narrow favourites. They could win the Europa League for the second time following success in 2017.
