‘Absolute star’: Jamie Redknapp says Man City now have a player who’s reminding him of Luis…

Manchester City secured a huge win over Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Pep Guardiola’s men went into the contest with the Cherries needing three points and got the job done, which has now moved them up to third in the Premier League standings with one game to go, with City only needing a point to secure Champions League football for next season.

Paul Merson was one of many who predicted Man City to struggle against a good Bournemouth team, however, that did not prove to be the case at the Etihad Stadium, as the Manchester club looked comfortable throughout.

One man played a key role in the win, and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has stated that the player reminds him of former Liverpool star Luis Suarez.

Man City’s Omar Marmoush likened to Luis Suarez

Suarez was a big hit at Liverpool, having joined the Merseyside club during the January transfer window in 2011.

Similar to Omar Marmoush, the Uruguayan had an immediate impact and would kick on afterwards, becoming Liverpool’s most important player, which is what Redknapp can envisage for the Egyptian.

“He can play anywhere across the front, and that’s the beauty of him. But today, when he can come deep, and what else he’s got is a really great work ethic about his game,” Redknapp said on Sky Sports

“When he loses the ball, he’s the first one to go and chase it. And I think that’s something that really obviously, Pep’s always wanted from his strikers or players that play out the front. And he’s very versatile, he could play in the 10. He could play in one of the wide areas.

“The hardest thing, obviously, if he wants to be a number nine, is getting ahead of Erling Haaland. But make no mistake, next year, and he’s had a really good start to his Manchester City career.

“Not many players come in and hit the ground running like he has, I think about Suarez a few years ago at Liverpool, but next year, he’s going to be an absolute star.

“He’s going to get bundles of goals, assists, you know, especially when they get Rodri back in that midfield.

“Players who can shoot from distance, I just encourage it, it makes everybody’s day talking about that. They sometimes get a bit shy about shooting from distance. It’s a great thing to see.”

Marmoush’s goal against Bournemouth was a thing of beauty, which left Don Hutchison comparing it to a Kevin De Bruyne action; it was that sweet.

Michael Owen believes Marmoush’s goal would have been a contender for goal of the season had it come earlier, and Man City fans can expect more of this from the 26-year-old next season, who is currently having the campaign of his life.

What Manchester City’s forward line could look like next season

Guardiola is set to revamp his squad throughout the summer, although the Man City forward line will likely remain untouched.

Erling Haaland has not been happy with his current season and will have a fire in his belly to bounce back. The Norwegian will lead the line for the Manchester club next season, with the question being what trio will operate behind him.

Marmoush will likely be deployed on the left, while Guardiola will be hoping to see Phil Foden back at his best throughout the 2025/26 campaign so he can use him regularly on the right.

Man City are in the market for a new number ten to replace De Bruyne, and with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White the man believed to be top of the list at present, the Englishman could be the final piece of the puzzle for the Manchester club.
