Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto is back on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ transfer agenda.
On March 19th, the striker’s agent, André Cury, stated Wolves had earlier made an offer. Cury also said Alberto will discuss his situation with the Brazilian club if there’s a good opportunity for him to leave.
The Premier League club are back in the mix to sign the 24-year-old if Willamis de Souza Silva, known as Souza, is to be believed.
Souza, who represented several Brazilian clubs between 1998 and 2017, is a commentator for Os Donos da Bola. He now reports on Wolves’ interest in the attacker.
Alberto initially joined Corinthians on loan from Zenit Saint Petersburg in June 2022 when Vítor Pereira was at the Brazilian club. He played 28 games under the current Wolves coach, managing 11 goals and two assists in the process.
Souza reports Pereira has requested Wolves sign the player in the summer window. The manager wants the Brazil international to replace his compatriot, Matheus Cunha, who is set to join Manchester United.
According to the former attacking midfielder, Corinthians will receive a €35m offer from Wolves for Alberto. He and his club will have a decision to make if Wolves submit this bid.
It’s worth noting Yuri Alberto is mainly a striker, so may not be a direct replacement for Matheus Cunha in terms of position.
