Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels has been a man on a mission this season between the posts.
The 32-year-old’s heroics have propelled the club from relegation candidates to certainties for Europe in the space of just 12 months.
When he signed in January 2024, Sels was viewed as a stop-gap option to take Forest through to the summer with the hope of keeping the club’s Premier League status intact.
However, he did enough during that half season to convince Nuno Espirito Santo that he was good enough to be the club’s mainstay in goal for 2024/25.
With European football on the horizon for Forest next season, another goalkeeper might be sought, however, with the rumour mill now starting to heat up

Nottingham Forest want Marcin Bulka
The stopper is now in the sights of Forest, with the club opening talks with the agent of the 25-year-old, according to Polish outlet Meczyki.
Forest will likely go for some competition for the shirt currently worn by Sels, with Carlos Miguel failing to make a single appearance in the Premier League this season.
Bulka is currently at Nice, having signed for the club from PSG in the summer of 2022, and has become a mainstay between the posts for the Ligue 1 outfit.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The four-time Poland international has been dubbed the next Wojciech Szczesny and currently holds the number one spot for the national team at this moment in time.
Forest will need to fork out around £20 million to land Bulka, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Chelsea all monitoring the situation with the stopper this summer.
Forest need competition for Sels
Bulka looks like the right sort of profile for Forest and it wouldn’t be the first time the club had enjoyed success signing a goalkeeper from French football after the exploits of Brice Samba.
With Europe on the cards in 2025/26 and Sels not getting any younger, it would be very nice for the club to have a more adequate backup than Miguel to call upon.
Matz Sels vs Marcin Bulka Comparison 2024/25 Sels Bulka
Games 37 34
Saves Made 119 121
Save % 72.56% 74.69%
Penalties Saved (Not including shootouts) 0 1
Clean Sheets 13 8
Bulka has been in good form for Nice this season, making 40 appearances and keeping eight clean sheets, with 55 goals being conceded by him.
Sels has earned the right to act as the number one again next season but having some healthy competition will hardly be a bad thing.
