Newcastle United have yet to deliver on previously announced timelines for stadium and training ground developments, instead shifting their focus toward rebranding the club identity.
According to [The Athletic’s Chris Waugh](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6349238/2025/05/13/inside-newcastle-united-transfers-miley-stadium/), the club is aware it’s missed multiple self-imposed deadlines regarding a decision on the future of St James’ Park.
In July 2023, the club said a verdict was “imminent,” then updated that progress would arrive by “early 2025.” With the season nearly finished, no announcement has been made, although there are suggestions that something could emerge in the next few weeks.
While some fans have expressed frustration that work is progressing faster on rebranding, such as the new crest consultation, Waugh noted that different departments are responsible for each area. Badge redesigns are being handled by the brand team, while stadium and training-ground matters fall under senior executives and board members.
On the training ground front, Newcastle has taken early steps toward a long-term solution. Waugh reported that current facilities at Benton are being expanded while the club continues seeking an appropriate site for a new complex. However, the development of a state-of-the-art training base still appears “years away.”
Despite clear interest in hearing from the NUFC board and high-as-ever expectations with Newcastle about to clinch a return to the Champions League, Waugh emphasized that progress on infrastructure is ongoing behind the scenes while the club remains silent.
