Champions League club now ‘doing everything they can’ to sign Wolves player - journalist

Wolves are at risk of losing more than just Matheus Cunha in the summer transfer window.

Vitor Pereira has made his transfer preference clear, as the Wolves manager stressed the importance of avoiding yet another mass exodus.

The Old Gold have lost key players in consecutive windows, and it’s not something that Pereira believes the club can afford to do once again.

That being said, it still looks likely that the squad will be altered due to departures, as Cunha’s transfer to Manchester United edges closer.

Unfortunately for Pereira, the Brazilian is not the only one generating interest.

Feyenoord are doing all they can to keep Hugo Bueno

Pereira was coy when discussing Cunha’s future, but the boss has more to worry about than just the forward.

It’s understood that Rayan Ait-Nouri is wanted by Manchester City, two moves that could see Wolves lose two players who have contributed to 60% of the Old Gold’s Premier League goals this season.

Though the first-team duo are stealing the headlines, it’s now become clear that Pereira is at risk of losing yet another player.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Speaking on Voetbal International’s Dick Voormekaar Podcast, Dutch journalist Martijn Krabbendam shared an update on Feyenoord’s plans for Hugo Bueno.

There were concerns when Bueno left Wolves on loan, but the left-back’s development over the season has been encouraging, however, it could now land the Old Gold in hot water.

That’s because Robin van Persie is eager to keep Bueno at Feyenoord, as Krabbendam explained ahead of the Spaniard’s return to Molineux at the expiration of his loan.

“He’s leaving now, but I think he’ll come back,” Krabbendam predicted.

“They’re [Feyenoord] doing everything they can to rent him for another year or buy him.”

Feyenoord know one thing for certain, and that’s that they want Bueno to be a part of their plans, whether that be permanently or for another season on loan.

Krabbendam shared his understanding that the 22-year-old returning to Feyenoord is ‘not seen as impossible’ by the player’s representatives.

Rayan Ait-Nouri’s situation is now critical for Wolves

To some, sending Bueno out on loan again would be wise, giving the player an extended time to develop, which could, in turn, bolster his value and readiness for the starting XI.

There are, however, additional circumstances for Wolves to consider, one of which is Ait-Nouri’s future.

Wolves wish to offer Ait-Nouri a new contract, but outside interest in the Algerian could make things difficult.

Ordinarily, Bueno, who has triumphed in the Champions League this season, could be seen as a direct replacement for the left-back, but Feyenoord’s transfer wishes throw a spanner in the works.

Wolves can’t afford to let both of their left-backs leave in the summer, regardless of the capacity, unless, of course, Fosun are committed to a rebuild, which history will tell you is unlikely.
